How I Can Help

Hi there,

Thank you for visiting Resting Tree. Below is some info which may help you understand my background and areas of expertise.

I am originally from Singapore, where I was practising as a Registered Psychologist for more than seven years in school, hospital and community settings. Since moving to Vancouver in April 2017, I have started my private practice and become accredited as a Registered Clinical Counsellor with British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

My experience lie predominantly in helping children (6-12 years old), youth (13-18 years old) and young adults (19 to 35 years old). Given my multicultural background from Singapore, I am comfortable and attuned to various ethnicities. Besides being fluent in English, I am also familiar with Mandarin and Cantonese.

I provide individual counselling through both online and face-to-face sessions.

My approach is empathetic and collaborative, and as your therapist, I will seek to understand your issues and needs and find a best approach to work with you on a suitable treatment plan.  I am generally guided by a strengths-based approach that involves reflective conversations as well as psychological skills training.

I am trained in the following therapy modalities:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • Interpersonal Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy

Areas of specialised practice include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Stress Management

  • Trauma

  • Relationship Issues

  • Life Transitions

  • Low Self-Esteem
